These beautiful blue & white tiles were copied from the Square Floor Tile with a Lotus Design (1426-1435) located in the Norton Museum of Art's Chinese Collection.
For more than 2,000 years, pictorial tiles have embellished Chinese palaces, shrines, stately residences, temples, and tombs. As the first emperor of the Ming dynasty, the Hongwu Emperor decreed that Tang dynasty architecture should serve as the model for Ming imperial buildings. As such, molded tiles from the main palace of the Tang dynasty inspired this tile's design.
Both blue and white tiles are available as 4" coasters or 6" trivets. Each have cork backing to protect surfaces and come in their own custom gift box.
